It has been 2000 years or so since the Bible predicted the imminent return of Jesus. That hasn’t happened. Should we just give it up?

For centuries, Christians have been eagerly anticipating the return of Jesus Christ. However, despite numerous predictions and prophecies, the world continues to spin on, and Jesus has not yet returned. This has led some people to question whether or not the Bible's predictions regarding the imminent return of Jesus are still relevant today.

It has been over 2000 years since Jesus was first predicted to return, and in that time, countless people have become disillusioned with the idea of his imminent return. Some argue that the Bible's predictions are simply outdated, and that we should give up on the idea of a literal second coming.

However, it is important to remember that the Bible does not give a specific timeline for when Jesus will return. In fact, Jesus himself said in Matthew 24:36, "But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." This suggests that the timing of Jesus' return is known only to God, and that we should not try to predict it.

Furthermore, the Bible also tells us that the delay in Jesus' return is not a sign that he is not coming, but rather an opportunity for people to repent and turn to him. As 2 Peter 3:9 says, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance."

So, rather than giving up on the idea of Jesus' return, Christians should continue to live in anticipation of it, while also recognizing the importance of living a life of repentance and faith in the present. As Hebrews 9:28 says, "So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him."
