What Is Brimstone In The Bible

The word brimstone is used in the book of revelations, where the beast, the false prophet, and eventually the dragon is cast into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Brimstone is used to signify eternal punishment. It means sulfur which is acidic.

"Then the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who worked signs in his presence, by which he deceived those who received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image. These two were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone." - Revelation 19:20

Also, Revelation 14 warns everyone not to accept the beast's mark; otherwise, they will be tortured with fire and brimstone.

"A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: "If anyone worships the beast and its image and receives its mark on their forehead or their hand,  they, too, will drink the wine of God's fury, which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath. They will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb." - Revelation 14:9-10
